What an extraordinary day it was as we celebrated 20 years of the Sunraysia Farmers & Makers Market! The market was buzzing with visitors, and we were delighted to welcome our very special guest, Costa Georgiadis. Later in the day, Costa the Gnome made a special appearance, roaming the market with his megaphone, delighting children and joining in flower crown making and Nature Art activities. It was wonderful to see such creativity and talent from our young attendees.
This year’s market featured the equivalent of 115 3m x 3m sites – our biggest to date, offering an abundance of Christmas delights. Visitors enjoyed a wide range of unique local crafts, gourmet food, fresh fruit and vegetables, picture books, plants, and even pony rides—truly something for everyone.
The past 20 years have seen the Sunraysia Farmers & Makers Market overcome significant challenges, from floods and droughts to COVID lockdowns. Through it all, our community has continued to support and celebrate the market, making it the vibrant and thriving hub it is today.
As a not-for-profit organisation, our stallholders also generously contributed by creating three magnificent baskets of goodies, with all proceeds going to CHAILIS, a local charity that provides assistance to families in need of medical support. It was inspiring to see our community come together to give back in such a meaningful way.
We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved over the past two decades and are grateful to every stallholder, volunteer, and visitor who has contributed to the market’s success. This milestone is a celebration of community, creativity, and connection, and we look forward to many more years of bringing people together.
We must thank Lower Murray Water and Mildura Rural City Council for their generous support of this day.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to the next 20 years!
